To our Fellow Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
We appreciate the news that we continue to receive from you. It has been a great help and
fuel to our prayers. Through them, we are able to enter to a much wider field of labor in the
work of the kingdom.
|
As the incense of the prayers of the saints ascends to God's throne, much is being accomplished.
It is with that in mind that we also desire to share with you the concerns
of the work here. I will seek to be a brief as possible and may the Lord stir your heart to
pray on our behalf.
The Lord continues to give us peace and unity as a church. Our gatherings have been seasons
of great blessing and refreshing. The members continue to highly appreciate and value the public
ministry of the Lord and they have been an effective means of the sanctification of God's people.
The oversight of the members shared by the three elders of the church has shown significant
areas of growth in most of the members (although a few are not in a healthy state). For this
we are very thankful to the Lord and we would appreciate your prayers for the continued aid
and power of the Holy Spirit in these areas.
We have seen a number of visitors come to our services. They often express great appreciation
of the ministry of the Word and their intention to return. But only very few of them really
do for reasons we do not really know. Please pray that God would help us in this area and
that He would work in the hearts of those who visit amongst us.
Our presence as a church continues to be known in this well-populated city and the surrounding
providences through our weekly radio broadcast - "Truth, Unchanged, and Unchanging". How many
have personally communicated that they regularly listen the broadcast and are highly appreciative
of it. Please pray that as we cast our bread upon the waters, it will return to us after many
days.
Several bible studies conducted by different members are ongoing. Our heart aches for conversion,
but we have seen so few. One bible study attended by as many as 18 to 22 have many hopefuls.
Oh that the Lord will speak to them in a manner that will cause the spiritual dead to rise.
We are looking forward to the summer months (April to June) and hope to resume our open-air
evangelistic endeavor. Please pray for zeal, wisdom, and the blessing of God in these labors.
The Annual Pastors' Conference the church has been hosting for many years now have been move
from the second week of July to the first week of April (April 1-3). We moved the schedule
to avoid the stormy July month. The new schedule will also enable us to use the school facilities
run by some members to house the pastors that need accommodations. Because of the increasing
number of pastors attending, the church building is not adequate anymore to house them all.
The theme this year will be on the subject: "Being a Wise Builder". Pastor Steve, Pastor Nene,
and (hopefully) Pastor Mitch will be handling four sessions each. Please pray for wisdom for
all the preparations being done and, again, that God will greatly use this conference for the
good of Christ's churches and the glory of His name.
We would also appreciate your prayers for the Church's Annual Business Meeting scheduled on
January 25. Pray for the preparations being done and that God will us wisdom that all be done
according to His word and it would be unto the edification of all.
Much still can be said but I think I have said enough for now.
Yours in the richness of God's forgiving and sanctifying mercy,
Pastor Jose Francis "Nene" Martinez
on behalf of my fellow-elders and the entire church.
